World of Facebook

It has always been a nice feeling to see old photographs. As we turn each page of our photograph album, we reminisce the good memories captured in such wonderful event. Though not all photographs remind of a wonderful thing, it still holds a piece of our heart that once was smiling, crying or loving. Seeing our old photographs displayed in the school book, tickles our fancy imagination to recall our younger years with our class mates and the wonderful school events. Just like any other ordinary people, Marc Zuckerberg and his classmates were fond of seeing their old photographs way back their preparatory school book.

This school book was named Facebook. The name FACEBOOK is derived from, this school book's name. Primarily, this system is intended to be used only within the campus limit for scholastic use, before it become a big hit and become what is now today known as the most visited social community.

Facebook has been a widely known name among people who are so into it. It is a very famous social networking website launched in February 2004, and as of July 2010 it now has more than 500 million active users. Users like me can add people as friends and send them messages, and I can update my personal profiles to notify my friends about myself and my whereabouts. Actually three out of my 815 friends in my facebook account, are from Japan.

A January 2009 study ranked Facebook as the most used social network by worldwide monthly active users. This very controversial site has been blocked occasionally in several countries including Syria, China, Pakistan, Vietnam, and Iran. It has also been banned at many places of work to discourage employees from wasting time using the service. People who have their account on Facebook are using more of their time to get in touch with other individuals despite the distance and lack of time. Facebook has been a great community for many people, it has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages and the disadvantages are as follows:

Advantages:
・Facebook makes it easy to find and join groups with similar interest and dislikes.
・Facebook makes it easier to find old friends or new friends as well as relatives.
・Facebook makes it easy to approach and meet new people from any point of the world.
・Facebook can be used to meet business contacts and for networking purposes.
・Facebook gives the opportunity to upload photos or videos on your page.

The goal is that your friends feel closer to you.

Disadvantages:
・Facebook is becoming a place for long distance relationships which takes the intimacy away.
・Facebook is very addicting, and can take you away from your actual work.
・Facebook gives the possibility of being stalked online or offline.
・Facebook can consume much of your time; it may waste valuable and expensive time.
・Talking about the facebook people who are labeled "friends…are they really?

With this information you can make your own personal decision on Facebook Advantages and Disadvantages. You can begin to develop agreeable ways of how to deal with the Internet community. If you know how to avoid the negative aspects and build on the positives then Facebook will be a constructive social networking site in your life.
